Puerto Rican soprano Ana Cristina Soto began her musical journey with the San Juan Children’s Choir. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Vanderbilt University in 2025 and is now completing her master’s degree at the University of Memphis, where she studies with acclaimed soprano Mary Wilson.
During her undergraduate years, Ana Cristina appeared as Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, and Lucinda in Lucinda y las flores de la Nochebuena. She also collaborated with composer Jason Brauer, premiering the role of La Sobrina Menor in his new opera La Muñeca Menor. Beyond the university stage, she has performed with Nashville Opera at Plaza Mariachi, debuted as El Ángel in Alberto Guidobaldi’s El Auto Sacramental de los Reyes Magos with Teatro de la Ópera in Puerto Rico, and appeared at Bachanalia ‘25 in Nashville. This summer, she will join the cast at Opera Seme in Arezzo, Italy, as Despina in Così fan tutte.
Upcoming engagements with the University of Memphis Opera include the role of Frog in Lisa DeSpain’s 2023 opera, Song of the Nightingale.
